LAZARUS FOUNDATION UPDATE
June 15, 1999
The Lazarus Foundation is rapidly moving forward in its three-part mission to the community.
Tremendous strides have been made in the last two months.
Work is already underway on the conversion of the Carriage House into St. Joseph’s Workshop and Occupational Skill Training Center.
The Foundation has been granted 501(3)(c) status as a non-profit charitable organization.
We have already received our first major grant of $20,000 from UTO, which will cover the re-roofing of the buildings and installation of electrical service to the workshop
Architectural plans are nearly complete for the renovation of the Lazarus House Residence.
A Project Planning Chart has been developed to establish a timetable and track the progress of the multi-phase implementation schedule for the facilities.
The Board of Directors is currently developing guidelines for management of the ¾ Way Residence program.
On June 10th, the Executive Council of the Diocese of Milwaukee held its meeting in Janesville. A major part of their agenda was devoted to a presentation on the Foundation’s plans and a complete tour of the facility. They were most favorably impressed with the Foundation’s mission and progress to date.
The Lazarus Foundation is heavily supported by, but separate from Trinity Church. Its long range success will require that it achieve recognition and support as an outreach of the community at large. As you read these news updates, will you please consider becoming a member, supporter or contributor to this exciting and worthwhile new community endeavor.
We hope to be able to display some of the Lazarus House plans in the church soon, and plan to provide an Open House Tour shortly thereafter, so please stay tuned.
